The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) will be launching a voluntary tagging program of goats, nation-wide, for the purposes of random testing for scrapie surveillance beginning mid-May 2007. The intent of the program is to ensure traceability to the farm of origin of goats that may be randomly sampled for scrapie at slaughter in abattoirs or any location where deadstock is sampled.
